Oh man my daughter plays flute and takes French. We're screwed.
I had the same thought. But my rising 6th grade DD's level at band camp this summer had 6 oboes, 4 bassoons, and just 2 flutes. I think the word is out.
You must not be in DMV area.
I heard if a kid can play viola, horn, or bassoon, MCYO will take him/her. For clarinet or flute players, there are over 100 platers fighting for 3-4 seats.

Kinda interesting...I like that.But can't you play the piccolo if you play the flute? Idk anything about instruments but they seem awfully similar except for size.
