Water abatement.

ive had them on the ground floor of my house which is where my bedroom is. they premeditate their attacks. last night a monster one attacked my boyfriend, who is also my only defense against these things, and he squished it and it was literally 4 inches long. it had toes. ive read that they eat the bodies of the other ones, probably on the glue traps, which has served its purpose up ubntil the hulk cricket came out from wherever he was. ive had my foundation sealed and have floor molding and glue traps and it has helped, but im starting to think that theres no way to get rid of them. ive sprayed them, with lysol and i actually heard it laugh at me. so if someone has a surefire way to destroy these pointless creatures, please share, im afraid of my own bedroom.

Didn't read the entire thread, but either buy or borrow a cat. When I had a cat, I never saw those things. Since he passed away, I now see them in my basement.

How do posts like this get resurrected ?

Those centipedes maybe gross but Are In fact natural predators of the cave and camel crickets. House centipedes are gross but also are harmless to humans

Yup, just killed one in my basement as well. Regarding house centipedes, as scary as they are, they are a "good" bug and they can kill other much larger house pests like cockroaches and even mice! But in the event that you still want to get rid of them, by accident we found that ant killers do the trick- both sprays and even when ants eat from one of those poision traps and the house centipedes eat the ants they die too.

Sticky traps worked to get rid of ours. When I see one I put out a trap (or duct tape). They collect there for a week or two and then they are gone. Repeat the next year..

I have them and I hate them you wake up at night and find one on your arm and it looks 2 times as big in the dark I can't stand the nasty creepy things. Goin to call the vug man first thing in the morning.

sticky traps aren't meant for controlling the problem they are meant to be used as a way to measure the infestation before and after fumigation or pest control measures.

How to Get Rid of Crickets

The most effective means of controlling these pests is with cricket baits such as InTice or Niban. These products will kill crickets and will keep more from coming into the treated area.

Sticky traps work great for us. Of course the down side is every time you walk by you see all the dead crickets in there, but we keep it in an out of the way corner of the basement so it's not too bad. It takes us about 3-4 months to fill a trap. We don't bother to kill them anymore when we see them (unless they come upstairs from the basement); we know they will wind up in the trap in the end. And the ones that do make it upstairs get eaten by the cats. My husband hasn't had to lift a finger since we got kittens!

Cave crickets also "like" paper products, so don't keep loose paper and cardboard boxes in your basement. The other tips re dehumidifier and spraying also worked for us.

You might be talking about silverfish - they tend to show up near water so bathrooms (in the tub, sink, etc) and they come up your pipes. Try pouring some bleach down your drains at night. They pretty hard to get rid of since like the damn cave crickets, they can survive for a while. I think that exterminators have better luck getting these guys than the crickets though....
