I totally agree w/you OP on "Stand by Me!!"
One of the best movies I have seen in my lifetime!

I have to disagree w/The Firm being better than the book.

I liked the book 100x more.
Basically I liked how in the book, the main character actually admitted to cheating unlike the film.

Also I vote for "Flowers in the Attic" on Lifetime.@

Yes!

Nah. Shitty adaptation.

Agree. The book was much better. Remember the moving giant topiary trees in the book?

I think the movie is awesome, regardless of the changes. They did remake the movie for TV a while back. It was supposed to be closer to the book, but I remember being kind of ho hum about it.

Tiger Eyes is a movie? Is this based off that teen book I read a million years ago?

OK, disregard. I IMDBd it. Wow it is the Judy Blume one. I loved that book as a kid. Is the movie worth a watch? Not sure how I feel now with my own kids and what happened to this family :-/

I know I will be in the minority, but I really enjoyed Romeo & Juliet with Leo and Claire Danes, and also Great Gatsby with Leo. I really liked the modern elements that translated how hip and edgy everyone would be considered today. A group of giys in tights "biting thumbs" became venice beach gangs. Your great grandma Flossie doing a flapper dance was actually partying like the hippest bottle service club!

Also, Much Ado About Nothing with Kenneth Branaugh but in Tuscany.

Miss Peregrine's school for peculiar children - thought the ending was way way better

The Princess Bride - the book and the movie are different so not such a faithful adaptation. But both are brilliant.

Speaking of Stephen King, Misery and Delores Claiborne are both great movies too.

Not a movie, and not based on a book for adults, but here goes: The Netflix series of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" is a total hoot, looks great, and according to my now-teenaged DD and her friends, is far better than the book series on which it's based. And these are all kids who like the books well.

Me too! I just finished reading the third book while at the beach - bring on the movie! And I say this as a fan of the books
