$165 for individual Lifetime membership, recently quit because gym rules were not being enforced- too much $ to pay & have to deal with disgusting kids

I pay $800 per month for a trainer to come to my house twice a week - it's a big luxury but it's great knowing that they will be there and I just need to go downstairs and be ready.

So true about Soul Cycle. Pretty overpriced for what you get. OffRoad DC is way more intense, still has great music, and they also have other classes available (Boxing, Build, Core). They also discourage dancing to the music and hitting those Rpm targets.

I do Barre3 only for now but I plan to add Off-road back into my schedule.

$40/month, I make $57K (I don't live in DC area and don't have any school loans, FWIW). Unlimited classes, indoor pool, indoor track, lots of options.

$750 a month for gym and trainer. I make $235K but have no debt of any kind, and money for my kids' college is put away in full.

Exercising makes me happy. My salary is a little over $100k. DH makes substantially more money.

Hmmmm. Our HHI is in the low 1Ms, and I've been hesitant to join Equinox. I guess I'm super cheap?

What's the difference between Flywheel and Soul Cycle? I Did Soul Cycle once and loved it.

Flywheel > Soulcycle

Flywheel has computers attached to the bikes so you can see how hard you are working and the instructor will give you specific benchmarks. There is no guessing 'what is a 9' on a scale of 1-10 because they say you should be at 75-80 rpms, etc. The dancing is not incorporated and there has been no research to show that it is effective. Soul cycle is also known for increasing the temperature to make you think you worked harder. Flywheel employees are also super helpful and friendly.

That's interesting... I did Soul Cycle once and loved it, when I described to my DH how amazing I felt afterwards he was convinced they pump extra oxygen to the room to make you feel good.

Try Flywheel and I bet you work harder. I never coast because you can't lie about your rpm when it is right in front of you.

There are other forms of work. Exercises involving isometric holds can burn a lot of energy.
