"First Honda pilot 230k miles then hit a deer and simultaneously got rear ended at 70 by a Toyota. That ended "Rhonda". The next Honda, "Parker" the pilot, currently has 190k on it and is still running great. Do consistent oil changes on it and it will last forever. Very little rust issues as well. The only rust I have seen has been on the tow hitch on both my vehicles. I am in northern VA so we have somewhat harsh winters with lots of salt thrown on the pavement so that never helps.

I took my 2003 Honda Pilot in for a service and a noise related to the power steering module. At 275,000 miles right now. They advised me not to put an more money into it as the cost to service would be about $4,000. They were concerned about the life of the transmission and the differential. After an oil change I guess I will keep driving it in the city. No long road trips. A 2007 pilot with less the half the mileage is a smarter investment. I just love this pilot. It's like a old faithful dog. still trying to get to 350,000 miles.

We have a 2007 Pilot with 220,000 miles. We maintain it regularly and tend to keep cars until they die.

My husband claims that our Pilot "has a lot of life left." I feel like we are reaching the end, simply due to the high mileage. I am also concerned about getting stranded somewhere.

Any personal stories?

Thanks!

It really depends on how often you maintain your car's health, so as have you all the necessary stuff for your automobile, or not. Recently I've realized, that I was not scanning my automobile for a while, so I've found great article on the web, type of "top" products (the best scan tools, etc..), https://bestforacar.com/top-5-best-bluetooth-obd2-adapters-and-scanners/ , it has a lot of explanation why one product is better (or worse) in comparison with another. It really helped me to maintain my car's health.

I have a 2005 Pilot with only 111K miles, it looks almost brand new, the only big thing was the radiator a few years ago, I just did the brakes & rotors (first time) a tie rod amd new tires for about 1500 total, runs like a dream and its super comfortable, we have a 2010 RAV and a 2017 HIghlander, but I still drive the Pilot its that comfortable (leather, heated seats, etc); hope to keep another 5 or 6 years, it will probably rust out first living in New England (salt)

05 Pilot with 250k. Still running strong despite the exhaust leak. I plan to get 50k more before I consider buying another Honda.

Wow! Well done, I am impressed! My dad had 350,000 on his Honda before he hit a deer and totaled it and we thought that was an insane amount!

You should ask the mechanic. They can kinda guess how long the car will last, or what future problems may occur. Also, since they work on it, they can tell what major things will need to be replaced soon. Like if they tell you the transmission doesn't sound very good, make a note. If they tell you the transmission will last another 10k miles, take note. Because transmission will cost alot if you need to replace it.

Not true. Own both a Honda and an Acura and our mechanic said both have a 350,000 lifeline on them with proper maintenance.

This thread fills me with happiness. I have a 2013 Pilot with 58k miles that I would love to keep for another 7-8 years. It's fully paid for, and I actually prefer the boxier model compared to the new version.

My 2007 van has air bags. I don’t understand how anyone trusts completely a backup camera. Don’t you still use your side and rear windows while backing up?
