Bridget Jones' Diary is hilarious. Much better than the movie.

I read these when I want to escape from the real world into a gentile, fun, funny one where all problems are trivial.

I'm the PP you quoted. In the same vein, but full-length: Connie Willis "To Say Nothing of the Dog." Absolutely hilarious just because they take the trivial so very seriously.

+1, I loan my copy out all the time.

OP here, thank you for all of the great suggestions! I have read most of David Sedaris' books, but not the new one.

Really appreciate it.

+1. I recently listened to Tina Fey's Bossypants while driving to a funeral (in Upper Darby!). I had never though to listen to the comedians' audiobooks before.

Carol Burnett's autobiography, One More Time. Mainly because she is such a funny lady, and I didn't realize that she had a tough but funny/awkward life growing up and truly made lemonade out of some of the lemons she was dealt.

It's a kids book, but it always makes me laugh out loud. "Harris and Me" by Gary Paulsen.

Impossible to read without losing it. I've read most of the books mentioned here but Jenny Lawson is my absolute fave. He blog about beyonce the rooster remains forever a favorite.

Sorry to hear about your tough time. We read Apologize, apologize for my book club last month and its hysterical and a peek inside an upper crust but very dysfunctional family..think it will be a great distraction. I really enjoyed it. Hope things look up soon.
