They are basically doing "nothing" in these classes because they already had their last "assessment." So it's easy street for MCPS high school students for the next couple of weeks. Love how our tax dollars are at work.
God, I wish this were true. My high schooler is still plugging away in all 7 classes. AP class still has an upcoming unit test and group project.
Well, I spoke to two kids this evening. They said only two classes are still active. All others are "done." This is a W school which is highly regarded. These kids are taking AP classes. Sad.
And what pray tell are your children doing in private school now until the end of the year?
My kid has final exams the last week of school. So yes, they are working up until the end...currently in review period. THAT is how you master material...not a test retake now and then.
As you most likely know, mid term and final exams have been eliminated from MCPS. That may explain why some tests have to be retaken, because otherwise how would kids ever see the material again and have the opportunity to demonstrate mastery. This approach, to me, is lazy and not comprehensive, because not all tests are retaken. If you screw up an important concept in your Algebra test, and there is no retake, that's the end of it. In my son's private, he will see the material again at the end of the semester during mid term or final exams. In fact he is reviewing all of these concepts during his review days. He will be more prepared than his MCPS friends for college. I have no doubt at all.
