My child received her acceptance today as well. We just moved here this year, so no Naglieri. Cogat was 128 (I think). Her teachers recommended her. Since we moved here, I've met a lot of children whose parents pushed so hard for their hold to get into this program. Many of these kids are so full of themselves (probably from well-intentioned parents who have told their precious ones how smart they are). Honestly, I don't know if I want my child surrounded by this. We may opt out. Please consider teaching your children humility along with math and reading skills.

It's not too late, the testing places expect there to be a huge demand during this period and will work to get the results to you before the deadline (I expect all this, I don't have any personal experience, I do know that at GMU, the graduate students seem to be the ones performing the tests, and so there are plenty of slots available)

What? It's not like anyone is betting on their kids acceptance (at least I hope not!). I don't think a set of numbers quantifies anything about my kid except whether or not they were AAP eligible this year.

I found the reporting of scores from last year's thread to be helpful to us in deciding how we proceeded with our kid's application. I'd imagine they're also helpful to people considering an appeal. (Our approach was that if DC got in, they got in, but we did not plan to appeal. If this helps someone who feels differently, I'm happy to throw in some data.)

If you don't like the information, stay out of the thread. It's pretty clear from the title what it's about.

Yes. And if your child isn't found eligible you'll get informationn on how to appeal.

Another 20171 resident, got the letter for our 2nd grader over the weekend. We'll go to the open houses but we are leaning toward staying at the base school. We like the current school (and we have a kindergartner there as well) so a move to the center would mean either moving both of them or splitting them up.

I haven't gotten the results yet but I'm def choosing the base. Our school has a local level 4 and child is happy at base. Yes, the added extracurriuclars sound nice but who knows if they fit in the schedule with the delayed school start and the sports schedule we currently have.

Thanks a lot. Did you visit both open houses? How did you find out about the clicks in the base school. We are also moving, so our school will be new.


My older son attends a Level IV center. It happens to be our base school. I can say that it has more academic type extracurricular activities than other neighborhood schools. I cannot imagine picking a base school over the center as the kids have more peers. Doing things like Odyssey of the Mind, Math Olympiad, computer programming, and musical theater has added to the school experience.
