It's strange that Appleton and Green Bay are considered distinct statistical areas - they are less than 30 minutes apart. The Fox Valley doesn't appear isolated at all - though no one would call it a big city.

It's definitely less isolated than the location of many of Lawrence's peer institutions- e.g. Bard, St. Lawrence U, College of Wooster, Earlham, Knox, etc.
