Totally agree with seeing some schools in advance. The first time you get on a certain type of campus, you'll see the list evolve. The small/large/city/residential/etc school suddenly feels too small/large/etc. Better to find that out now than to have offers from schools that were "perfect" in your DC's mind, but don't feel right.

yes, but no point in spending money to apply if the kid doesn't like the campus...

so we got the list pared down even more...

Monday - Wake Forest at 8:30am

Tuesday - Clemson at 9:00am

Wednesday - UNC at 10:30am

Thursday - Duke at 9:00am

Elon doesn't have tours over the weekend,

Univ. of South Carolina only has tours on Wednesday the 12th which doesn't work with our schedule

Or think of it this way.... No point in applying to 12 colleges if you can narrow down the list first.

most schools would like you to schedule ahead of time so they can get the right number of tour guides. Some schools track interest so not only do you need to sign-up ahead, you have to check-in when arriving.
Every school has something like this: https://admissions.umd.edu/visit/terrapintour.php

the college website has everything you need.
