No, it's more a function of where the three strongest MS AAP programs - Carson, Longfellow and Rocky Run - are located. The AAP schools for Madison (Jackson and Kilmer) and Woodson (Frost) aren't getting as many kids into TJ.

which is again not about school quality....but how rich the families are in those districts
Who's to say the affluent aren't moving there in large part because the schools are strong?

To be fair, if they are crushing it at at Chantilly, they still aren't crushing it. A teacher there told me they have 60 base school kids at TJ. With Carson and RR, all their STEM talent goes there.
So, what you're saying is that there are a lot of good students in chantilly pyramid?
The better, not the worst, pyramids tend to send the most kids to TJ:
Oakton 156
McLean 150
Langley 147
Chantilly 147
Westfield 105
South Lakes 90
Woodson 86
Madison 53
Marshall 51
Centreville 48
Fairfax 44
Lake Braddock 40
Annandale 38
Robinson 36
Herndon 27
Edison 26
South County 23
Hayfield 22
West Potomac 19
West Springfield 19
Falls Church 15
Lee 14
Stuart 13
Mount Vernon 4
In some: Madison and Woodson, people are happy with the base option.

Not talking about Chantilly. When I think of big FCPS HS's, I pretty much think LB, Robinson... Also, the obsession with stem is hilarious. I'll take a well rounded high achieving student, who is star of the team, play, first chair, sga president... that's crushing it, and those are the kids I don't worry about. Success is just sort of a given.

Isn't Chantilly up there as well?
Not really.
Chantilly and West Springfield are very much up there.
