SUrprised by the comments. I'm 5'4 and not intimidated by much, but for sure if I am standing directly beside a super tall woman at a cocktail party, I am unconsciously going to be thrown off. One of my best friends is 6 feet, so it's not a total barrier. But yes, there's something about super tall woman that doesn't make me feel as comfortable as talking to someone similar height. No issues if we are sitting at a table talking.

I know very, very few tall people. My brother is one of them. I am 5'2 and can't say I notice height much unless the person is also imposing in some other way. In my brother's case he is a very sturdy guy so just has a very specific presence. I don't think I've ever met a woman and thought "wow, she is tall", nobody comes to mind at all.

As a short lady myself I think it's because we are programmed to be close to those that look like us.

I am also 5 ft and some change and I noticed that women tend to have friends that are the same height and build as them and I never see them close to other women that are taller or shorter than them. So women may be subconsciously choosing to be around women that are like them.

Next to bigger women I feel younger and smaller even if I am older than them.

Nope, I'm 5'2" and the shortest of my three bridesmaids was 5'10". Definitely not intimidated by any of them!

I'm 5' and was a coxswain in college. Tall people don't intimidate me.
