Then DCs gun laws will be implemented throughout the rest of Maryland, and we can finally put an end to this Wild West nonsense that we have deal with in this state.
I was at the Rio Target last weekend and saw a man walking out of a sporting goods store (ironically called "Dicks" - srsly!) with a long box with the shoulder part thing from a gun sticking out of it. Just carrying it like it was a bag of groceries!
I called the police and followed him all the way to his truck, but the police never showed up and he drove away. I gave them his tag number, but never heard back from them after that. I didn't hear about anyone being shot on the news, so I guess I can assume he didn't find whoever he was looking for, but still, it was absolutely terrifying to see something like that.
So the sooner D.C. becomes part of Maryland the better, because we need to stop crap like this.

And I don't want Maryland to become part of DC.
I know right? I'll keep my double digit appreciation on my "shitty" house with all of our problems. That's why everyone wants to move in the city. I could move to MD and put money in the bank.

Deal if you keep Maryland's problems in Maryland.

Makes sense for DC to become a part of VA or MD. Right now DC bears unfair share of homeless and mental health costs from these two and other states. DC inside a state would give DC more options to deal with these and other similar chronic problems.
As a part of retrocession into MD or VA annexation, DC should negotiate that it would keep the vast majority of funds its taxpayers generate, among other concessions.
How about DC + Northern VA become a state?
I like this idea. I would rather DC become part of VA rather than MD because liberal northern Virginia would welcome the extra voters to keep VA purple-- maybe even turn VA blue.
MD is solid blue and will be for the foreseeable future. Demo leaders in Annapolis and Baltimore don't want DC taking over their roles in Annapolis.
But Alexandria and Arlington would welcome DC's votes to bolster their own in Richmond.
Virginia is blue. And nobody wants the shitty redneck parts of the state.
Virginia won't be blue without Arlington/Alexandria.
