The only way my oldest stop sucking her fingers was when she broke her arm. Not sure that was the wisest way to stop it but it did end the thumb sucking!

She will be among friends so they may tease her but it should be harmless fun. If anything, it will help her stop on her own terms.

My girls both have lovers. One is 9 and the other is in college and she left her three amigos home but snuggles them when she visits from school. I had a brother who sucked his thumb until his untimely death at 30. He had sucked his thumb in utero and it was just a part of his life.

She will stop on her own.

Lots of kids have stuffed animals through HS and even college that's not a big deal at all. Who cares??
