Yeah, some of these suggestions are crazy expensive for your income..

+1. On 200k you should be purchasing a used Honda CRV.

She makes 75k.

So even worse. You're planning on spending almost half of your take home pay on a car?! Very middle America.

Take the cash and put it in a 529 plan for the baby. Or pay off a portion of the mortgage. Add to your emergency fund.

You have a baby on the way and make 275k. Now is not the time to spend so much money on a car.

Big $$$ decisions should be made together. And she should get a say in what she wants.

Most dealers will let you return a car within a week or so if you really don't like it.

This.

+1000. If she is going to be driving this car for years, let her get the car and the options she wants.

Yes. Do not make such an expensive purchase without her input. Or if you feel that this is something she really would appreciate, then you should be getting a car that she wants rather than crowd sourcing on DCUM. Has she mentioned a particular car that she would love to have? Maybe you can feel her out hint around talk about different cars and so on and so forth. I would be extremely pissed if my husband made such an expensive purchase without my input. AndI would also be extremely pissed if he made a purchase like this and I didn't like the car. That's a very expensive mistake to make.

So do I, but it's definitely on the flashy end. Does she love to drive? It's a lot of car if not.

Let her pick. Not every car fits every body.

The only situation under which you should do this is if you already know what kind of car she would want AND you know that she would like to receive it as a surprise. If you have to ask anonymous strangers on the internet what kind of car to buy you should ASK YOUR WIFE.
