So Trump can dip into the language of Beer Hall Putsch-era Germany and make dark unspecified rumblings at rallies about Hillary and all her secret secret secret connections to '...international bankers' and whip the ignorant, angry, anti-history, anti-intellectual, information hostile base supporting his barely veiled antisemitism, and you don't blink a damned eye. Good looking out.
Trump would be the president you deserve.

There's not enough information about these emails to really change someone's mind and do enough damage for her to lose all battleground states. Trump needs to win all swing states and I don't see that happening. However, let's hope something drops on trump to change the narrative.
And a significant portion of the electorate is staying home or voting for third party.

The over-the-top reactions by people on both sides are much more concerning. It is a waste of precious energy to fret and worry. It is healthier to remember that there are good people on both sides. I am going to affirm peace regardless of who gets more votes. I am choosing to remember that we have checks and balances in place in our country that prevent any one branch from having control over our destiny as a nation.
And honestly - I don't like Trump, but comparing anything about this to "Germany circa 1919" is offensive and frankly, just stupid. Comments like this from both sides are exactly why we find ourselves in this position as a country.
Simply not true. One example: Gays now have the right to marry, thanks to Obama's court picks.
A President Trump can slash support to Planned Parenthood, driving up unwanted pregnancies.
A President Trump can kill the EPA and Federal Education Dept., meaning devastation for the disabled and catastrophe for the planet.
Don't forget that a president can take us into wars on faulty premises.
To the pp: I don't think anyone is comparing this to Germany circa 1919. But Germany circa 1933....well, yes there are more than a few parallels there. Even those experts who usually avoid making such parallels have been admitting this time there are in fact quite a few to be drawn. Read this and tell me there are no striking comparison to be found: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/28/books/hitler-ascent-volker-ullrich.html
Not possible. Congress has the authority.

We already have the wrong leader-hopefully he will be put in jail for treason. He has hurt this country far more than either candidate, though Hillary is doing her share.

Yet Trump doesn't feel it necessary to call out and firmly condemn any hate speech towards ANYONE. There is plenty of that at Trump rallies. It's more about making a certain segment of his base happy, otherwise he would have vehemently condemned the guy (among others) who turned to the press shouting JEW-S-A.Anonymous wrote:Trump is far more pro israel than Hillary. His daughter converted to Judaism and his grandchildren are being raised Jewish.

I'm mildly curious. After all, we had the Bush presidency and I can't claim to have found the country ruined after he left office.
And there have been terrible presidents in the past too. Andrew Jackson was probably far worse than Donald Trump could ever possibly be and he didn't "ruin" America either.
This is not to say that I find Donald Trump an ideal candidate (I despite the man for many reasons) but I do not buy all this fear that somehow Trump will lead to the irrevocable decline of America. We have an extremely strong system of checks and balances, multiple levels of government each with its own separate powers down to the state level and municipality levels, we have a large house of congress, many of whom, including Republicans, despise Donald Trump. We have a huge and very vocal population and one of the biggest and most free media entity in the world that does nothing but closely follow every step the president takes.
The president's power is much more limited than most people realize.
