1) together 5 years total, of which we have been married for 3 years
2) 2 years old and 32 weeks in utero
3) maybe once a month
4) i am content because we are doing our best. small child, pregnancy, long hours at difficult jobs, no help beyond our nanny and housekeeper. life is all about priorities and sleeping, eating, spending time with our toddler, and trying to find down time for ourselves take precedence over sex right now.
My guess is that something will always take precedence over sex. Don't get in the habit of pushing it to the back burner. It's a use-it-or-lose-it kind of thing.
PP here. I don't need advice on my sex life. I know consensus on DCUM is that sex is the most important thing and all marriages where exhausted parents aren't also having porn star sex daily are doomed to failure, but I don't think so. My marriage is fine (probably because I am married to a man who is equally exhausted because he is pulling his weight).

good response
So long as you and DH both agree that once per month is fine, only then is this a good response.
But I seriously doubt that. Few men are ever content with monthly sex, regardless of circumstances.
Have you actually talked (really talked) with him about his contentment with your sexlife?
One can easily pull his/her weight yet still make time for weekly sex.
