I think someone just working a couple of odd jobs in their late 20's/30's is more likely to have addiction issues -- not just sayin' mj.

There's a gathering of 1000 Goddesses (10000?) on he Mall in a couple weeks. Should be packed with that type. There's a FB group.

Hula hoop class.

OP try hanging out with the Roller Derby crowd, tons of local leagues in the area with ladies who fit your description.

(5) someone who works at a library;
(6) live bands /concerts (focusing on more independent music and/or Grateful-Dead inspired);
(7) Whole Foods or independently-owned Whole Foods-ish type store or food co-op

And you said you are not quirky and don't try to be. Are you at least funny? It helps to be quirky and funny.

I am the kind of woman you describe and am looking for a like minded man... I am stuck here until my kids leave home so I have to work full time in a career I loathe so I can afford to live inside the beltway in Montgomery County. I've been dating for a few years and have met a few successful laid back men who don't have anything left to prove... but it's hard.... I travel out west frequently and find the men to be much more laid back with similar values... once my kids leave home I'll move out west pay cash for a house and live happily ever after with people who wake up grateful for life and who don't judge..

good luck

There's plenty of ugly chicks here, just not hippie ones.

I kid, I kid. The hippies probably date black men.

Honestly, as a now-married woman who had tons of suitors---what do you bring to the table? Are you a quirky outdoorsy indie type too or are you looking for someone who will be the most interesting thing about you? A lot of guys who approached me were the second type, they're pretty easy to see through. Take inventory of yourself, though. Too many people look to complete themselves with other people instead of being happy with their own selves.

quirky - no. I'm not quirky nor do I try to be.

outdoorsy - yes. I climb, hike, bike, getting into birdwatching - I would love to move west but my job and career keeps me here.

Attempting to garden.

very into environmental issues, but usually that's by writing a check (though i do try to walk and cycle as much as possible and not use the AC unless absolutely necessary).

not into material things for the most part.

I don't think it is about being more interesting - i'm pretty happy with how I am, I just want to explore dating someone who isn't high strung, has a much more relaxed happy-go-lucky vibe, isn't a worrywart - i've met three women like this out west (one in santa cruz, one in santa fe, and one more in another small mountain west town) and I fell hard for them at different parts of my life so I think it seems i've always been into this type but since I grew up in the north east and my circles never crossed paths in a sustained way with enough frequency for me to find someone like that here.

I fully get that most women like this might not want anything to do with me. That's cool. But dating is a numbers game so if i don't actively put myself out there for these women, I won't ever know.
