Sam Who Never Forgets is a lovely, gentle book that I never tired of reading. Also A Sick Day for Amos McGee -- the writing and art are both wonderful, and the story is sweet but not cloying.

Fall is Not Easy by Martey Kelly
Little Pea by Amy Rosenthal (or basically anything else by her. But Little Pea is my favorite)

Am I the only one who feels like this book should be retitled "The Pout Pout Fish: A Story of Non-Consent"?

PP here with the 17 mo who loves the book. I hear what you're saying. I read it and sometimes mutter, "way to derive your self-esteem from your romantic partner, pout pout fish." ...but I still love that the kid loves it.

Goody, this is more fun than the original thread .

Frog and Toad, Richard Scarry Bedtime Stories, Andrew Henry's Meadow, Mr Pine's Purple House, Miss Twiggly's Tree, Tip Tip Dig Dig, Trucks by Byron Barton, Dont Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, oh I could go on. I miss reading to my kids! They are older now.

The Gruffalo!

How did I forget this one! I adore this book.

I also love The Snowy Day, which someone else mentioned. I love that the boy is out exploring and making his own fun.

If you love The Snowy Day, try some of Ezra Jack Keats' other books. A Whistle for Willie and Pet Show are two of our favorites of EJK's.[/quote

And for someone having a baby sibling, Peter's Chair is great by.Ezra Jack.Keats

Also Little Bear's Big Boat is a great book.

Oliver Jeffers, Lost and Found and How to Catch a Star. Sweet stories with gorgeous artwork.

Are You My Mother?

Some of the Elephant and Piggie books, like We Are In a Book and Elephants Make Me Sneeze.

Frog & Toad stories.

DS is 3, those are my two favorite Oliver Jeffers books. Both of those Elephant and Piggie books are fun, and I also like There Is a Bird On Your Head.

I have fun reading The Gruffalo and enjoy some of the longer Dr. Seuss books like The Lorax and The Sneetches.
