I don't make distinctions with my aunts and uncles. But if any of them divorced, you know I'd be with the blood relative, of course. And same with nieces ... if DH and I divorced I'd probably never see his nieces again, and I probably wouldn't miss them a bit.

I do I love my nieces on both sides. But I love mine more. I treat them all the same, I probably treat his better, since I don't like them quite as much.

IRL, not here on the boards, they are all my nieces.

Honestly, I'd never heard of making a distinction (i.e., "my husband's niece" vs "our niece") until moving to this area.
My perspective may be different, because I'm an only child, but I consider DH's brother's daughter my niece, blood relation or not. I love her to bits.

The wording is all about the context, people. Wouldn't it be a very confusing question if it were worded "do you love your nieces/nephews more than your nieces/nephews?" The distinction is made so you know which specific nieces and nephews are being referred to.
