1) There doesn't seem to be any added incentive for schools to catch cheaters - and no punitive measures taken if they don't.
2) The proof of residency verification is still WAY too light. There should be a requirement of a utility bill and a pay stub and, frankly, a DC license.
Okay, can agree with the utility bill and even other requirements. You are not getting an address on a pay stub from a federal government worker and many private companies. I drive and have a license, but do you have any idea how many people in this city refuse or do not know how to drive, and thus do not own a DL? And with Uber and the red bicycles everywhere, yuck, that number is only growing.

Can you imagine!!!!! It would be such a disaster.
No. It would be effective.
Good god, the DMV can barely function as it is. Have you tried to renew a license lately? The different representatives all say different things about what you need and what you need to do. It's a mess.
Well, you'll just have to deal with it.

Don't have one single utility bill. We have a HOA bill. Does that count? I've had to explain that to somebody before. They couldn't believe it. Cellphone bill doesn't count, no home phone, no cable-too expensive.
Whatever happened to tax returns? I can have my work print any address on it and show it to you, and I know many who drive around with old license from another state.
Well they need to get their licenses updated.
Currently if you can't produce sufficient docs (your HOA situation) you can opt to have the school registrar visit your home and attest that you live there.

True. But most DCPS parents drive, and a remarkable number seem to drive in from Maryland in their MD-plated cars!

One of the people profiled in that daily caller is a friend of mine. Generations of her family lived or still live in DC and[b] using their addresses is just very common [\b], she told me.
I still don't get how you can just "use another address" without jumping through a lot of hoops (putting bills and cars registered in the other address in your name, for example).
It would take me about 8 seconds to log in and change the address for my pay stubs.
And then of course, all correspondence from school would go to the fake address.

How much correspondence do you get mailed to you? We get almost none- it's all through email and flyers sent home in folders. Everything through the mail is redundant anyhow.
