OP isn't mean, she just has self-awareness and cares about her online footprint. Some people — especially stay-at-home moms — get drunk on likes, attention, and faint praise. It's low and tacky.

Accept the things you cannot change (your sister) and just keep repeating this mantra, "I am not my sister and people who don't understand that are not worth having as friends."

Sorry you have to deal with this but do remember she is a separate person from you and you are not responsible for her behavior.

OP, I'm sorry people are being so hard on you. I totally sympathize. I choose what I want to post and share on Facebook, and am not okay with other people choosing for me. In the same situation, here are the steps I took:

I added restrictions to where I have to approve a post.
I untagged myself
I contacted said person and asked them to stop talking about me
I deleted said person from my Facebook when they continued.

Wow, all the critics!! Miserable folks. OP, 1) get savvy with your FB settings, tighten it up. And 2), you obviously love your sister but she is old enough to screw it up herself. Live and let live and keep your distance at a safe distance, whatever that is for you. Lastly, 3) pay attention to who is photographing your kids, even family. Sweet grandmoms can pass photos around and not be aware of where they wind up.

I thought this is what FB was for.

I have an obscure surname and my cousin also posts a lot of pics and trivial crap. It never occurred to me that people are linking the two of us. Why would they? Katie Bogdanovich is having another barbecue! Larla Bogdanovich must be an idiot!

Yes! I think it's the default - as in my experience about half are open. It's actually somewhat tricky to completely close everything you do - be design, no doubt.
