My sense is she wants the kid to like the shirts and to fit in in kindergarten. It's nice and sweet. Parents shouldn't be wound so tight that their kids can't wear a few shirts that they didn't preapprove or pick out themselves.

Fine it's her money. Clothes may be worn, may not be.

He is Kindergaten. The kindergartners are all into characters and have zero interest in Under Armour.

That is more for the mid to older elementary kids through middle school.

My kindergartner and his friends were all wearing Under Armour and Nike. That said, they're all little brothers of big brothers. So they've been looking up to the big boys for what's cool to wear. Character tees were acceptable to my kindergartner too, but I could NOT get him to wear anything like Boden. I mean, I guess I *could have* but it wasn't worth the screaming and crying fits it would've taken.

Many grandmas really suck at it. I prefer to pick my child's own clothes.

My MIL picks awful stuff and doesn't provide gift receipts (on principle, so I can't return - but it doesn't mean my kid is wearing that stuff.)
