Our dishwasher overflowed and the wood was a little wavy for a while, but it went back to level after a few months.

I can't imagine standing on tile for hours every day (I love to cook) or cleaning up around gel mats (I hate to clean), and our big goofy dog hasn't damaged the floors. BUT I don't really care about the odd scratch. Our house is nearly a hundred years old; everything has a few dings.

Water can sit on tile for a much, much longer time than wood before it seeps to the subfloor. If the grout between tiles is sealed, then the water will just sit on tile almost indefinitely, whereas water will warp hardood and seep between the planks. Of course, if your dishwasher is sitting on the subfloor, the water directly underneath the dishwasher will warp the subfloor, but many diswashers will spill water in front of it, not just underneath.
