I think Ginger works for being unusual but still sounding like a name, and it's cute. I like it better than Cinnamon. Sounds like Ginger will fit right in with your friends kids, too. Go for it.

As another poster suggested: Cynthia, nn cinnamon or ginger? So she can fit in with the other children in your social circle.

NP here. Your friends' names are fine and not at all like Cinnamon. Like a few others, I can't help but think of Blue's Clues and baby Cinnamon.

No. Name her Virginia and call her Ginger, FFS, but give her the option of normalcy on paper. You know why everyone mocks stereotypically AA and Mormon names? Because those names start kids out at a disadvantage, they set them apart from everyone in a negative way. Gwyneth Paltrow got away with naming her daughter after fruit because Apple will have every advantage, nepotistic and otherwise. Your child will be just another kid with a bad name.

Are you the Op? Neither am I but, if I was a girl and the choice of names was either Cinnamon or Ginger I would pick Ginger. I agree with you that everyone deserves a "proper" name however, I think the only reason "Ginger" became ginger was because of her hair? I know Virginia was her real name but, Op hasn't said anything about being a fan of "Ginger Rogers"

Gwyneth Paltrow's daughter could also go by her normal name, Blythe if she wanted when she got older. Who knows in their home she may already be called Blythe.

My DH just chimed in with the perfect name...Ginger! Isn't that cute? It's a spice and different. But, there were famous Gingers "Ginger Rogers" too.

To the Blue's Clues poster:

You are both right. Paprika was the older daughter and Cinnamon was the baby son.

Please don't give your daughter the first name Cinnamon. If you must, put it in the middle name. As for the other flower/spice names I don't like them either except maybe Lilly.
