I know but PP seems to feel my child is taking something from her child. My child is both a resident and special needs student. It isn't like I am getting something for nothing all at her child's expense.
There is no group so entitled in DCPS as the special needs parents. My kids have been with mainstreamed SN kids in every class who couldn't participate and took up a large share of the teacher's time, but they have every right to be there so they are. I've requested to keep my kids out of mainstreamed classrooms so they can go at a faster pace, but my kids don't deserve to have their needs met like the SN kids do.
You're an awful, awful person.
Awful to want my kids in an appropriate environment for their needs and abilities? Ok.

No, that is fine. You're awful because you call SN Pparente " the most entitled" and don't seem to understand federal law.

Federal law would be one reason.

OP here. My child is deemed by DCPS to meet criterion for services. I pay DC taxes. Federal law says I have the right to receive those services.
I would like to see a study determining how much it would cost DCPS if kids in private schools decided to move to DCPS en mass to get these services.

Agreed. Most parents are wholly ignorant and rude about special needs kids if they don't have one.
OP here. I see your point.

Please. As a special needs parent, there is nothing I wish more than for my child not to have special needs, not to have to spend my time researching strategies, emailing teachers, meeting with them etc. I wish I were so lucky.
Sorry to hear that, but it has little to do with PP's point. Other families and kids struggle too, for a myriad reasons.
