Why are you still eating chicken in 2024? we've evolved to better alternatives by now.

Commercial Chicken smells bad, it only doesn't smell at the grocery store because they use chemicals to dumb down your senses.

The farming practices of chicken factories are horrendous.

Except for the 20 mile drive to Wegmans, this sounds great.

You will have one next year in Rockville.

I totally agree. I would never buy meat or fish there.

Well, less “overrated” and more gone down hill in the past few years, with some stores being better than others. Amazon probably figured they could milk profits for quite a while until habitual shoppers noted that the precipitous slide in quality is real.

I don't shop at Whole Foods anymore b/c I have gotten food poisoning from prepared food as well as meat and cheese. I have noticed that their coolers have gone down several times due to storms, etc. and that may have compromised the refrigerated foods.

I don’t buy bell and evans anymore. I recently opened a package of chicken wings. There were 17 flats and 3 drumsticks. Complained to the company and their front lines basically said it’s what you get! They don’t do even numbers of flats and drums. They do not care if you like their product. Also, some chicken parts look as big as turkey parts?!? I grew up on a farm. I know how chicken is supposed to look. Honestly, it gave me a shiver.

An off smell is often a sign of bacteria - and not the good kind. If your meat smells off or "weird" don't eat it. Good way to get yourself miserably sick.

Rotten or contaminated food often doesn't taste bad - that's why people get food poisoning because when cooked the food tastes fine. And sometimes it doesn't smell badly either, but if it does, DON'T EAT IT.

WF has really, really gone downhill since the Amazon takeover. I hope they can fix their mess!

I have not had any issue with the milk or eggs there though.

My go to place for organic chicken is Costco now.

+ 1. Same experience as yours. I also carry insulated shopping bags.

Aventura, FLA B&E Breasats, same problem, today!!! Poured kosher salt on both sides, rinsed, dried, put in marinade bag and will hope for the best. I bleach washed everything; last week I got sick either from 365 tahini or sirloin on sale.

I’m still having problems with the WF chicken. I hate the packaging. I feel like I’m playing food poisoning roulette.

Our experience with the vacuum packed Bell & Evans was also the same: hard to open, chicken slimy & an off smell. I complained at Tenlytown WF. Also complained about the absence of a packed date on the package. Meat counter workers were apologetic and confirmed that a lot of people are complaining. People should complain on WF and B&E's Twitter feed.

We are going to try Stachowski's butcher in Georgetown who sell whole chickens and breasts.
