I doubt you're as high paid as you claim. Professionals don't remain employed for long if a boss glimpses their ink

45 years old, white female, masters degree, middle class. Anything beyond small ankle tattoos I find trashy. I know plenty of non trashy people with tattoos but I still can't help thinking it's a trashy look overall.

Trashy. Healthcare providers will talk about their patients’ wack tattoos.

I also think that ear weight trend of 10ish years ago was so stupid. Who wants stretched, saggy earlobes?

theyre all trashy and when I see someone with a full sleeve or a neck tattoo I assume they’ve given up on ever having a proper career.

Me first. I sometimes find tattoos trashy but generally like them if done well. Example: tweety bird on your boob = trashy. Artfully done half sleeve = not trashy.

I'm old enough to remember that unless you were military, tattoos were trashy - across the board. The reason the hippy generation never went for tattoos was because they were associated with bikers (racist and violent thugs) and military (Vietnam!).

For the longest time I thought tattoos trashy. Since they've become very popular in the past decade my views have moderated somewhat.

Most trashy people seem to have tattoos. Which doesn't help the perception. But plenty of non-trashy people now have tattoos and there does seem to be a clear divide between the types of tattoos. And I've seen gorgeous tattoos that seemed to fit very well with the person.

I still find it ironic that tattoos were meant to be symbols of individuality but in reality are nothing more than another form of lemming behavior. Most people get tattoos because they're influenced by their peers.

I think we've hit peak tattoo. The generations that went big for tattoos are now getting older - and fatter and uglier - and guess what, so are their tattoos! The current generation of kids will see their parents' ugly, stretched and faded tattoos and say no thank you.

To conclude: I no longer think twice when I see a tattoo on anyone.

Tattoos are trashy. I have a delicate tattoo on my shoulder. It was an impulse I regret and I hate it and never display it.

DH was Enlisted, one tattoo on upper arm. He hates his as well. It’s not large and hidden under shirt sleeve, mostly.

Son, Military and has one on calf. It’s actually well-done and he’s super fit but I hope he doesn’t get another.

His wife is covered in tattoos. They are on her stomach, back, legs. All expensive and well done. She’s a gorgeous, petite blonde who is exotic looking and very trendy/fashionable and has expensive tastes. I feel she is ruining her body. When you are young yah it’s so kewl but as you age and your skin loses elasticity, just ugh.

My opinion: waste of money. Stupid vanity.

Convicts, military, and tattoo artists used to be the tattooed people. Now it’s mainstream.

Our daughter is a nurse practitioner and considered a tattoo in college. She’s so glad she didn’t get one. We have 2 kids currently in college and neither have tattoos.

We lived in the Ozarks at one point and I saw people with the most insane tattoos that really scared me. A 400 lb lady at Walmart riding a motorized shopping cart with a jeweled crown tattooed on her forehead. Why? Why? Why?

Friends don’t let friends tattoo.

Trashy. I live in Florida and everyone has tons of tattoos here. There's also a lot of monster trucks, smoke shops and strip bars here. Oh and also tons of mega churches. Florida is such a weird place to live. I grew up middle class and our HHI is 90k. I have a bachelors degree and my husband has a PhD. I generally think tattoos are for stupid people. There are lots of morons in Florida.

Generally speaking, I don't like them. I have seen a few in my life that were subtle and unique with a good story behind them that I thought were really cool. They're in the extreme minority though. Most of the ones I see are telltale fads of their era: Tramp stamp across the small of the back, paw prints on the thighs, cherries above the cleavage, etc.

I have no problem with your getting a tattoo. However, I don't want to see it. If you have a sleeve, it's on your face, or half your chest (at the pool), I think less of you. Yes - I am judging. tfb

My mom grew up very poor, no college, but tattoos were a big "no" for her and that has stuck with me. "No tattoos, no motorcycles, no smoking, and always pee before you leave the house." Words to live by.

I work in the military and see a lot of tattoos, especially sleeves. I don't care for them. I wouldn't say trashy but I find it unattractive, especially the large asymmetrical ones. I have seen a few delicate ones that I like.
