No, I would not be annoyed. I'm also not a crazy person so that helps. FWIW, DH and his cousin (my cousin's kid) are about 1 year apart and share the same first name. Have different nicknames.

My SIL and her sister both named their kid a generic boring name ex: Laura (spelled the same way), born a year apart. Huge family drama ensued. My side of the family just sat back and watched the fireworks. SIL was always so smug and judgemental and our family having issues, and hers was perfect. There is still drama over the stupid name. So dumb.

My cousin wanted to name her daughter after me, but not to confuse people and thinking I might not like it added an y in the name. I wouldn't have cared and would actually be flattered, but it is not a custom in my culture to name a child the same name as a living relative so they made a slight change. What is the age difference between your kid and nephew's kid and how often will these kids be seeing each other?
