Took a couple more minutes, and I don't see any Ivy or Stanford among the first 100 schools ranked by rapes per 1000 students.

You scrolled past the 1st list in the same link that list Stanford in 1st place. Check again.

Statutory rape is often consensual. It's just that the victim is too young to legally give consent.

We use the same word because lack of consent is the defining characteristic. Our society puts a priority on protecting kids who are underage so they are considered to be incapable of giving consent.

This isn't entirely accurate (or wasn't, 20 years ago, when I attended Stanford), as I know Stanford athletes who were offered a full ride to Harvard but not to Stanford.

Regardless, with respect to Brock Turner, it's not just about Stanford's athletic program in general but its swimming program in particular. There is pretty much no other swim program in the country that matches Stanford. If you aren't an Olympic hopeful, you will not make the team. That gives them more of a pass in admissions etc than other programs.

Beyond that, though, I don't think it has anything to do specifically with being an athlete, though the swim culture at Stanford in particular could certainly breed entitlement in someone who was predisposed to it. Rapists can be nerds, too, though.
