Wasn't Shoshana the character on Girls that had the abortion? I'm Catholic too and that's my only association with the character. It would make me uncomfortable.

Which just goes to show that some people perceive any non-WASP name as unprofessional. Shoshanna is a traditional Jewish name. The only reason you don't think it's "professional" is because you haven't heard it much. I work with people with all sorts of names, many of which I had to learn to pronounce. It never crossed my mind that any of them or their names were "unprofessional." Just foreign-sounding to me.

I've seen it spelled Shoshanna, which I prefer. I used to dislike it but I had grown on me.

I think it's very pretty. It also reminds me of the Lewis & Clark Expedition and the Shoshone, Native American tribe.
