We know many people who are interested in both.

Wesleyan attracts somewhat more artsy and political applicants.

But don't let stereotypes fool you. Wesleyan also attracts plenty of athletes, future bankers, future doctors, etc. And Tufts attracts plenty of artsy people.

W has a much bigger drug scene, if that matters.

Wesleyan! Much smaller, nicer campus, real LAC vibe - most like Williams and Amherst, but artsier. Tons of famous wes grads are directors. producers, authors, also managing partners of law firms and senators. I think there are kids who fall in love with Wesleyan and really want to attend, but I think Tufts (while a great school) is less unique and mostly regarded as a second/third choice for more highly ranked boston schools. But that's just my impression.

This isn’t correct.

I see now that it’s an old thread. I think Wesleyan is around 16% as well now.

I don't think so re Sidwell- he grew up in NY. But he did go to Wes and established the Hamilton Scholarship!

I graduated from Tufts and had a DC graduate from Wesleyan. The two schools are both excellent and more similar than not. Size and location are the two most significant differences. I loved Wesleyan’s progressive housing system and having all students in campus dorms or houses for all four years seemed to create a more cohesive culture then at Tufts. Wes also seems better integrated into its environs.....back in my day (I’m sure things have changed) there was a fair amount of friction with local residents.

He didn’t, he grew up in NY.

Some people need to know the difference between a DIRECTOR (Kail, Sidwell & Wesleyan) and a PRODUCER (Mianda, Hunter College High School & Wesleyan).

I think the OP's kid must have graduated college by now. This thread is five years old.

I went on to a top law school that was far easier than Wesleyan. Many people went to med school, humanities and other PhD programs, and law school. A lot of teachers too.

It probably wasn't the best fit for me in a lot of ways (and I didn't receive much guidance that would have allowed me to pick a school that was a better fit) but I received an excellent education.

+1 Same for me but I went to Tufts.

No one said Miranda went to Sidwell. They said the director, who was Thomas Kail.

No. Miranda attended Hunter College High School in NYC.
