I agree. As a man who is 33. I very much prefer 32-37 year old women. Problem is the shelf life is short and I prefer not to hurt women. I'm not an MRA douche-bag. So in looking for a wife, sadly I look amongst the 26-28 year old crowd. I want her to want to have sex when I'm still 50.


What do you mean by 'their shelf life is short?' Huh?

No they are not, but they are old in terms of fertility. After 35 the chances of get pregnant decrease quickly. Also, think back to when you were in your early 20's....remember how old a 30 year old looked?


I'd rather be a 30 something mom than a 20 year old mom.

I've never dated a guy in their 20s. There are a few very good reasons for that. Maturity and sexual skills are at the top of the list. So, I guess it does work in reverse for guys.

Yes, and men from upper class families are, by definition, not the majority of men out there. I know DCUM world tends to think that 30-40% of men are 6'2 and landed gentry that came over on the Mayflower and pull down 6 figure incomes. But, only 10% of men, IF THAT, fall into that narrow category. I'm talking much more about what matters to the people in the middle of the bell curve. And yes, here men are more forgiving on status/income than are women. A woman who has a 4-year college degree (don't think Vanderbilt, think Valparaiso,) and makes 60k a year is not going to be willing to marry a guy who is an electrician (even if he makes 75-80k) and has a 2 year degree from Ivy Tech. She still wants a guy who went to a 4-year college and makes 100k (or something far more than her 60k). Conversely, a guy who makes 100k selling insurance who graduated from Indiana University will marry a hairdresser who has no college degree if she looks like Kim Kardashian and ins't a b*tch.

Yep, this is more evidence that women create the unfair conditions that plague them later in the dating market. That's the hilarity of the situation. Wait so xyz is harder to get than a or b...what are you even on about. Anyway, women are more likely to date older guys, so a lot of women get into LTRs in their mid-to-late 20s with guys a few years older. By the time women hit their 30s, they are generally only single if they had a relationship fall apart, they have issues of some kind, or they aren't interested in an LTR. Obviously there are some exceptions, but that's generally the case. So, I think that leads to the perception that a woman is a spinster if she is still single in her 30s. I think the same thing happens with men, just on a later timeline, because men tend to settle down later. If a guy gets to his 40s and is single, it's the same: he generally had a relationship fall apart, has issues, or isn't interested in a long-term relationship. Again, there are exceptions, but they are rare. By that point, guys are getting all the annoying questions about being single from family and friends that women get in their 30s.

I don't know where that data came from. Here is a better explanation:

"Surprisingly few well-designed studies of female age and natural fertility include women born in the 20th century—but those that do tend to paint a more optimistic picture. One study, published in Obstetrics & Gynecology in 2004 and headed by David Dunson (now of Duke University), examined the chances of pregnancy among 770 European women. It found that with sex at least twice a week, 82 percent of 35-to-39-year-old women conceive within a year, compared with 86 percent of 27-to-34-year-olds. (The fertility of women in their late 20s and early 30s was almost identical—news in and of itself.) Another study, released this March in Fertility and Sterility and led by Kenneth Rothman of Boston University, followed 2,820 Danish women as they tried to get pregnant. Among women having sex during their fertile times, 78 percent of 35-to-40-year-olds got pregnant within a year, compared with 84 percent of 20-to-34-year-olds. A study headed by Anne Steiner, an associate professor at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, the results of which were presented in June, found that among 38- and 39-year-olds who had been pregnant before, 80 percent of white women of normal weight got pregnant naturally within six months (although that percentage was lower among other races and among the overweight). “In our data, we’re not seeing huge drops until age 40,” she told me."

In other words, fertility in most of your 30s is not all that much different from fertility in your 20s.

The reason 30 year old women are considered "old" is that their value is still intrinsically tied to reproduction in our sexist world. Eventually this comes around to men too -- it just takes a decade longer, when people start looking askance at never-married 40-year old men.

You might know me. I had a baby at 39 and told no one that I did IVF. All of my friends would say I conceived without help and I can tell you this is fairly typical. People don't broadcast this stuff folks. Get real.
