I say, "I'm sorry, I can't make it." Then I change the subject without any of the usual, "we have a sports event we are going to", or "hate to miss it, let's catch up soon!" as I would with other declines.

I don't sell, but I'm in a Lularoe group. Most of the clothes are ugly and unflattering (on me), but I can't stop looking at the online parties.

I read sellers make $18+ profit on each item sold, and they sell a ton of items each Facebook party. I think this might be the one profitable MLM, if you have a big enough following.

R&F is the absolute worst about this. It's like they brainwash people. For example, the Lexus thing is a total scam. As long as you meet some proportion of the sales goal they will pay part of your lease. As soon as you don't, which is inevitable because the market is oversaturated, youre left to pay it on your own.

Mary Kay is the same way with their cars. This was apparently a shock to the woman I know who signed up to sell Mary Kay. But everyone is chasing that one successful person at the top of the pyramid, and they have conferences seemingly monthly just to get the sales people jazzed up and thinking they're "almost there."

I wrote about this earlier, that I live in an area that mostly SAHM's and military spouses. They live for this stuff. he saddest are the SAHM's whose spouse is living paycheck to paycheck, and their wives are spending money on this crap and claiming they own their own business. One said she felt sorry I had to work full time and not raise my child. I wanted to tell her I felt sorry she was too stupid to realize she's a customer, NOT an employee and definitely NOT a business owner!

I was! (and one could argue still am since I am posting about it!) I never spoke to her again! It ruined our friendship. She also never wrote me a thank note... nail in the coffin!!
