Field shortages. Also, your elementary school child doesn't need to be at school until 9 a.m., right? Chill.

I'd opt out for this year if I were you.
8:00 is jot too late for most first graders.
Most first graders have bedtimes between 8:00-9:00.
Only a few first graders are still going down at 7:30. Most preschoolers stay up later than that.
Clearly you need to read something about the sleep needs of children. Sure, many preschoolers stay up late, does that mean it is healthy? What is healthy and what people do are often very different things. Do you even know how much sleep kids are supposed to get?
Early elementary schoolers need 11 hours of sleep. In Loudoun where we live, the ES tardy bell rings at 7:50am and the buses start coming as early as 7:10am in some neighborhoods. So the kids are waking up between 6:30-6:45am. For my child to get 11 hours of sleep she needs to be in bed 7:30/7:45pm and most days she is. Even a 6:30pm start time for practice is too late to get home, get showered and get to bed.

so it is about you not the kids? Because the kids would be fine
Maybe your kid would be fine. Many six year olds, mine included, would not be fine.
