Why do you call doing this a hustle?

What kind of phone do you have? I assume that you need to look at it a lot while working (accept fares, GPS, rate passengers) - how do you do this safely?

Do you listen in on people's conversations as you drive?

Have you seen drug deals happen? What do you do with that, or obviously underage drunk people (or other illegal things, I guess?)

Do you expect passengers to tip?

I'm a different poster, but one who is also ugly. I noticed only a few years ago that my mother has always said "You're beautiful TO ME." Her implication has been that that should be enough for me - that as long as my mommy thinks I'm beautiful I shouldn't need to hear it from anyone else. But we all know everyone wants to feel desired and admired.

I don't just THINK I'm ugly. I get TOLD I'm ugly. Not too often, but about once a year, usually from strangers. Once from a coworker (that was super awkward). So, I mean, it's nice that it breaks your heart, but ... that doesn't make me desired or admired by anyone. You know? If there were no losers, the winners wouldn't feel like they were winning, right? So I serve a purpose.

I do too. Each time you've said it, my heart broke a little. I'm now picturing you as my "ugly" ex-coworker, Tom. We sat across from each other, and he really wasn't good looking. And frankly, he was sort of a dick. But we were friends, and I still have a little crush on him, truth be told.

No, guys hitting on girls UberPools is an embarrassment for all men everywhere...I've never witnessed such lameness. As a bonus, uber drivers get the typical cab driver treatment, so passengers will say anything and everything with no filter in the car, and I hear it all. There are a TON of creepy dudes in DC...so much so that I give ladies in an uberPool the choice of whether or not they want me to make the next pick-up when it's a guy's name. There are lots of NO!, lol

It is more profitable to do an unmatched Pool ride trip with a single rider than to do multiple Pool pick-ups. Also, it's been proven that uber skims extra money off the passenger's payment in a Pool ride, thereby reducing the payout to the driver, so I typically will only do a Pool ride if it's surging and will reject the rest.

And yes, I chase surge constantly...you have to in order to be profitable. I pretty much know where it's going to be surging around-the-clock and am always trying to drive as efficiently as possible. There are many days that I won't give a single trip that wasn't surging 2x+. I let the new drivers who don't know any better do the non-surge rides.
