^Wel, I guess it would have to be a non Catholic family, not just a non Christian family, throwing a First Communion party in the above example. But the point still stands.

But, I will say the "secularism" of Christian holidays can get on the nerves of even me (a liberal Catholic). I had to bite my tongue recently as a friend explained to a large group that "she didn't believe in organized religions but her family celebrates Christmas." I guess Christmas has different meanings to everyone and I have never before felt like screaming "THAT"S NOT CHRISTMAS." But I did find myself wondering how the Jewish members of this group would react if I just declared I wasn't Jewish but I was having B'hat Mitzvah for my 13 yr old anyway (fur the cultural reasons).

Many Christmas traditions have roots in paganism. A non-Christian family throwing their 7-year-old a First Communion party would, like a non-Jewish family throwing a B'hat Mitzvah for their daughter, be offensive, Non Christians celebrating Christmas? Not so much.

For my college girls' baskets: newest iphone, latest birchbox kit, subscription to blue apron, amtrak tickets to come home (NYC to DC), Stubb & Wootton slippers, Lindt ladybugs and bunnies.
