I know right? I had the same issue. My mother obsessed about her grandparent name and wanted to be different than my MIL, like one couldn't be Grandma A and Grandma L. She cycled through 3-5 different names arlready. Should I be worried about Grandmama? (which by the

This. My kids also have two Grandmas. We only use "Grandma FirstName" if they are not present, we are talking about them and need to clarify. To their faces/in their presence they are just Grandma.

For whatever reason this was important to my MIL.

We lived close to them. So when my mom came to town, my mom became "new grandma". And my MIL was "OLD grandma"

My mom, of course, loved this.

My BFF has to refer to her mother-in-law as "Mrs. LastName" and the kids call her "Grandmother LastName." This is in Maryland. Uber pretentious, I think.

It could be worse, my FIL wanted to be called the Welsh name for grandfather, which translates to something like "tadka". We were like "dude, if you can't pronounce it, how do you expect a toddler to pronounce it?". Moron.
