Way to go, Olney!

Drew parents: be glad your kids were competing with less qualified students---they probably wouldn't have had a chance in another district.

mean.

You just want to make a joke about Olney but the joke is on you. Results clearly show

Clearspring: _______________V-129, Q-132, NV- 126
Drew:____________________ V-128, Q-131, NV -122
Pine Crest/Oak View:________ V-129,Q- 126, NV- 122

Clearsprings, Drew and Pine Crest/Oak View have similar scores, with Drew slightly better than Pine Crest/Oak View. At least get your figures right before making useless comparison. Averages mean that someone can have perfect scores of 160 at these Centers.

If you read the interpretive materials on CogAT, it makes clear they NV is not a strong indicator of academic success. It is strongly correlated with visual analysis - like radiology, 3D modeling, l

My child was admitted to Barnsley and was 11 points below median on non-verbal. That being said, she was 12 points above on verbal. FWIW

PP here. Strike that. 17 points above on verbal. 11 points below on non-verbal. And 2 points below on quant.

Do you?

The median is the 50th percentile. So half the kids selected were above those scores and half were below... in each of the clusters.

Drew's median scores were the lowest in 2 of the 3 areas.

Cold Spring had the highest medians in 2 of the 3 areas.

Yeah, it honestly makes me feel bad for the many Cold Spring cluster kids who probably had higher scores than kids accepted to those three but could not get in.

?

Lowest median scores...certainly suggests that it's drawing from the poorest performing students...which should not be the case in olney.

Although, most folks don't agonize over the HGC. The brightest kids stay in their home schools and supplement (or not) at home.
