Don't wait until elementary school. A preschool child/toddler can climb into the minivan on his own, the windows are tinted so you can breastfeed in private, there is plenty of room inside so you can change a diaper, etc.

I will never understand people who are all smug because they do not own a minivan, but then have a SUV. Now Prius owners, you can give me your smug looks : )
