Pp here. You wouldn't believe how often I think of the movie Defending Your Life, particular the scenes where Albert Brooks passes up the opportunity to invest in his friends small tech company that turns out to be huge, and the scene where Meryl Streep can eat anything she wants and does, because she's in pergatory and can't gain weight. That last one has always been a fantasy of mine!

Also who can resist a young James Spader sexing it up with Susan Sarandon.

I ran across this one the other day on some movie channel. I like this one, too!

Generally, foreign films (non-English language films) - which I'm sure are very popular in other parts of the world, but don't seem to be very widely watched in the US. For example, Departures (Japan), The Sea Inside (Spain), any of the Dardenne Brothers films (Belgium), Pedro Almodovar's films (Spain) and Inarritu's earlier works (Mexican director of The Revenant and Birdman, but had a few earlier Spanish-language films that were wonderful - Amores Perros & Biutiful). I agree with others that watching with subtitles if you are not a speaker of the language of the film is a pain sometimes, but there are so many really beautiful and interesting films made outside of the US.

Wow that movie looks like it has great reviews and won some awards. Never heard of it before. Josh Lucas is in there too. Thanks for the tip!

I'm going to disagree with PP. I am not a fan. I saw them filming it in Boulder (didn't see Jen but did see Tim!) so was interested in seeing it for that.
