Aww, c'mon. It's not like the blizzard--there isn't that much snow that it won't all melt/wash away Tuesday. I'll bet they'll be out Tuesday, but back on Weds.

The options seem to be:
Take a vacation day
See if spouse can take a vacation day
See if a snow day camp is open and has space and you can afford it
See if a neighbor can watch them for the day
SAHM here.
I'm thinking if I took vacation days for all the snowdays we've had the past few weeks, I'd be fired!
My spouse is a surgeon so its difficult for him to take vacation days.
Where do you find snowday camps? Sounds like a good idea.
We're not close to our neighbors.
Let us know where you are located and we can pass along some of the snow day camp locations.
This is very difficult situation when both parents are working outside the home. It's not easy to make arranagements with neighbors for repetitive snow day closure.

High schoolers in your neighborhood. Many in ours jump at the chance to make the money.Anonymous wrote:So true about the full-time nanny or family near by being the only realistic way not to eat through all of your leave. I've read some remarks on this board about how the closures happen every year and eventually it's up to you to figure out how to make arrangements for days when schools are closed but work is open. Occasionally there is a snow-day camp like creative difference or what have you available, but somebody please tell me about the person they have on hand and available to cover for them just on snow days (when the roads are likely bad for that individual as well) and who can also make themselves available for a couple of hours on mornings of horrible roads, but are not otherwise the nanny or family. Honestly, who is that person and please send them my way!
