The academics are fine at BSS. There are some bitter, unhappy folks on this board. My kids are doing nothing different than our friends' children who go to GDS, Lafayette, Janney, and Somerset ES. (and in the case of Lafayette and Janney, they have done somethings earlier).

My thoughts are all ES are doing roughly the same thing whether it is public or private. The difference between public and private is the frequency and quality of "specials" (art, music, etc.) and behavioral problems are dealt with differently in private schools.

Sometimes describing feels like judging when you recognize your self in a description -- kind of like a caricature; but PPs have noted the accuracy of the description and don't feel judged. It is healthy to be able to chuckle at yourself sometimes.

Definitely true. I love my many BS friends but I truly think the parents at our NW independent are less status conscious even though the average HHI is significantly higher. I've got to say the last point is spot on (and I know BS families that freely admit that they chose the school for the community despite the academic weakness).
