Yeah, DH here. I wouldn't mind if DW pointed out that some things needed to be replaced or otherwise looked like crap, but I'd be pissed if she took it upon herself to throw stuff away. Maybe ratty underwear or undershirts, but actual clothes and shoes? Nope.

Woman here who agrees. It puts OP in a tough spot because the way her husband is walking around is unacceptable, but I have a lot of respect for her for not going behind his back and throwing out his things. I don't think that's acceptable either.

Mine still dresses in the tattered, faded hand-me-downs he received from old men, back when he came here as a refugee in the 1980s. He just pulls out whatever's clean and folded. He looks like a ragamuffin.

I'm not too invested in how he looks, but I do ask him to retire the most appalling, polyester, ugly, raggedy things now and then. I think the worst was when he kept wearing mom jeans that were three sizes too big for him.
