I'm an only child, and the most well adjusted and social person I know. Growing up I LOVED being an only, my parents travelled the world with me, took me to see and do really cool things. Paid for college, grad school, wedding, etc. All things they never would have been able to do had I not been an only.

But now, in my 30s, I really wish I had siblings. I'm really close to my parents and worry how I will cope in this world once they're gone. How I will deal with them aging and all the attendant logistical issues since we live far away.

I was an only child of dysfunctional parents. My childhood was a nightmare. I married early and wanted a big family. We had four and now have nine grandchildren. I love being a mom and grandmother. I feel so happy to be surrounded by my adorable brood. I would never have an only child.

but if not - Honey, as a privileged only - now with 2 kids who attend . . . shudder . . . public - your child will be a fucking brat from hell as you transfer your elitist 'tude over to her.

been there until life kicked me hard in the ass

What are you talking about? "You have no idea what that is like until you live it." PP has 2 kids, not 8, and she was condemning your snotty attitude about public schools. Nowhere did she insinuate that you don't know what it's like to live in a big family. You have pathetic reading and comprehension skills for being so haughty.
