Was anyone else struck by how the intro to the Force Awakens just assumes stuff we definitely did not know at the end of Return of the Jedi -- like General Leia and "her brother Luke." Who told them? They certainly didn't know, and yoda didn't tell them when he was alive, nor did Obi Wan obviously. Did they watch the prequels too?


Rey and Ben are like the same age. And Leia and Luke completely knew that they were siblings at the end of Episode 6.

Lol. It was a bit dramatic that he was on a random island, that happened to have steps that go up a mountain.

I loved the movie. I couldn't believe Han was killed! And Kylo does look like Han. Leia looked older and sounded older then her age, 59. I didn't know the big new villain guy was a hologram, I just thought he was super big.

I noticed this too, PP, but I don't agree it was well-done. Maybe there's botox going on there as well, but both Carrie and Harrison seemed to have no upper lip movement. She had a lot of that blank-botoxed-filler look. I'd rather see wrinkles and expressions than smooth skin and bleakness.

I also think they went the wrong way with the way they showed her age. Instead of fading out her eyebrows and hair to some taupe color, they should have gone with white hair and darker eyebrows; her eyes would pop. She really was bland.

That being said, she looked not overly done by today's Hollywood's standards. There was more naturalness, more flaws, than what that town usually allows.

"Who is Lor San Tekka?

I'm firmly in the Rey is Luke's daughter camp, but I thought this from Vanity Fair is interesting:

I think PP is referring to Kylo Ren, who's name was Ben before he went evil? I floated this idea too... they're too close in age though. Even if Rey is 15 and Ren is 30, it doesn't really gel. She's definitely not younger than 15 and he can't be older than 30.


I'm the PP you were quoting and thanks for pointing out that it was a question, and about Obi-wan, not Kylo. But thanks to the PP who pointed out that the age of Kylo/Ben, which appears to be a few years older than Rey, would make that problematic. Oh well; would have been an interesting aspect if it had been the case.

I think the vast assumption is that she is Luke's daughter; we will have to wait and see. Let's hope the wait is not too long.

Okay, here's an ignorant question. Who was the "old ally" with the map at the beginning?

Also did anyone else think Han should have mentioned aleia on the bridge when talking to Ren? Like "Your mom wanted me to tell you she misses you and wants you to come home." I mean, boys have power struggles with dads--isn't the mom card the one to play?
