I don't let either of my dogs go into other people's yards, because I don't want them peeing or pooping there and it's not our property to go onto.

It's great you picked it up. We always pick it up too. It's still a bit inconsiderate to let your dog into other people's yards.

This. Yes, he technically has the right to make the request. But, sorry, you're a controlling douche if that bothers you this much. You just are. And, don't give me nonsense about "my kids play there." There's an awful lot of disgusting things in the yard. So, if you're letting your kids play there to begin with, it can't bother you that much.

But, now you know, OP. So, don't let the dog go there. But, also, I like to know who the anti-dog crazies are so I can avoid them. Luckily, I live is a super dog friendly neighborhood so it's mostly a non-issue.

PP, so you're okay with dog poop laying all over your neighborhood? Where do you live (zip code)?

OP, the guy is obviously not a pet owner. Don't worry about it. As a dog owner, I can empathize with you. Sometimes nature calls and they will drop one in an inappropriate spot. You did the right thing by cleaning up. Don't let the guy bother you.

Why is it even worth mentioning that picking it up was the right thing to do? I wonder about people who bring this up.

You "wonder" about me? Why?? I cannot tell you the amount of dog poop I see next to sidewalks. Not everyone is considerate enough to pick it up.

If you're asking if YOU were rude for letting your dog crap in someone else's yard, yes. If you're asking if the homeowner was rude for politely asking that you not let your dog crap in his yard, then no. You are clearly the rude one here, OP

Because there are dog owners who do not pick up after their dogs and have no intention of picking up after their dogs. They genuinely do not care if they piss you off and usually make their deposits at weird hours and when no one is watching.

Those folks...grrr.

It doesn't sound like the Op realized that she was doing anything wrong - after all, she was planning to pick it up and didn't exactly tell her dog to pick your yard. I think you can get your point across in a neighborly way. At any rate, she knows now.

Dogs should never be allowed to poop in someone's yard, period. It's basic politeness.

I can't fathom how people don't recognize that. Nobody in our street lets their dogs poop on somebody else's yard, and when puppies do it, their owner apologizes.
