Not a PP - I love dumb puns and would not normally be one to be a wet blanket / overly PC, but also didn't find this thread funny. This is alarming, and not that far from dead children and teachers.

I was with my 81 year old mom when I received the message about the gun, her reply, "…well it's probably just the first time someone was caught with one!". Now THAT is a scary thought!

Shouldn't the metal detector operator still have stopped that, if it was that?

Parents will definitely go in lock, stock and barrel to insist on how there could be such breech in security.
Just a shot in the dark but doors are open and security is nonexistent early in the am when i drop my kid off for before school activities.
At least kids are starting to understand the "if you see something, say something" mantra. Thank goodness a child went to an adult.
My son heard that the kid with the gun posted a picture of it on SnapChat. That's third or fourth hand though, so not necessarily true.

I remember one time they didn't even wait for the cops. The assistant principal just went into the classroom and wrestled the kid to the ground. You gotta love Florida!
