My thoughts exactly. Some people got out of situations where they had no chance to go to college, much less earn a degree, by using their talents or skills. (Thinking of celebrities and athletes who came out of Compton and the like). Some "celebrities" would not have that status if they didn't seize the opportunity when it presented itself, which eliminated college as an option at that time. Do you really think these people aren't worthy of respect because of their talent, skills, or, most importantly, character, because they don't have a 4 year degree? And do you apply this thinking to non-celebrities as well? If so, I'd hate to be, as pp's have mentioned, your electrician or daycare provider.

But these people are outliers. How many people can be like them?

I know multiple people (non celebrities) who are not college educated, but who are financially successful. As for celebrities, I think that getting a college degree might actually HURT some of their career prospects if their "chance" comes first when they are teens; they need to take that chance, not postpone it just for the sake of getting a college degree that isn't relevant to their chosen career anyway.

I have two graduate degrees, so I'm not anti-education, by the way.

The difference between the celebrities without degree and the Bill Gates of the world is that the latter actually achieved something.

All actors do is read lines and look good - often with the help of skillful surgeons and make-up artists. Some are truly talented and I do respect them. The others are either playing on their looks or f****ed the right people in LA.

This is a stupid question. Each person should be judged by his/her character; how do they conduct themselves, etc.
