After my MIL finished eating food cooked by me in my house, she had the audacity to tell me I shouldn't have made the stew thick and I need to add more water. WTF? I just told her my husband likes "thick stew." My SIL backed me up by saying she "enjoyed it." DH whispered to me that MIL should go cook and eat in her house... Haha

Found out from my SIL that my FIL thinks that I may have a drinking problem. Thing is, I only drink when they are here. And even then, it's usually 1 glass of wine to calm me enough to deal with their shenanigans.

Moving forward, I've decided to not drink while they are here. Nor will I bite my tongue when he or MIL say something to piss me off. I'm sure they'll be begging me to have a drink or two after those confrontations.

I'm already treated for depression and anxiety problems so it's pretty easy. Sometimes I NEED them to prevent a panic attack or to function normally in a high stress situation (i.e. public appearance, flying for first time with baby) and sometimes I just do better when I have them (dealing with family around holidays). I also take them to put up with DH sometimes, but that's another thread.

Thanksgiving with just my sisters, and their kids, spouses. So much fun, so much laughing, and no drama whatsoever for 4 days.

So much more worth it to spend time with the family that's really worth it to you.

Everyone was awesome but we lost power for two hours on Thnaksgiving day. Thanks to the grill we didn't ruin the turkey but it was a major pain to get things cooked and on the table before the little kids got too tired.
